Tripp Lite BC Pro

Tripp Lite BC Pro service in Canada: legacy Back-up + Conditioner battery replacement, bench repair, migration to current-gen Eaton 3S/5S/5SC. Independent specialists, national coverage.

Tripp Lite BC Pro service across Canada, replacement batteries, on-site swap, bench repair and migration consulting for the legacy Back-up + Conditioner line. The BC Pro (Tripp Lite, now part of Eaton following the 2021 acquisition) sat between the OmniVS basic standby line and the OmniSmart / SmartPro line-interactive families during its production run, with internal sealed lead-acid batteries and outlet-level surge plus voltage regulation. Production ended several generations ago but the installed base across Canadian small offices, branch sites and SOHO server closets is still substantial, and we keep these units running for as long as the chassis is mechanically sound. Specialists. National coverage from our Canadian warehouse.

Line interactive: utility power passes through an AVR transformer that corrects sags and swells, and the transfer switch moves the load to battery when the utility drops.

Tripp Lite BC Pro models we service

BC Pro covered the 350-1500 VA single-phase tower range, the legacy Tripp Lite line aimed at small business and SOHO before the modern OmniSmart and AVR Series replaced it. Common models we still see in active service:

  • BCPRO350: 350 VA. Small router / modem / single workstation backup.
  • BCPRO500: 500 VA. Desktop plus monitor.
  • BCPRO600: 600 VA. Desktop with light peripherals.
  • BCPRO850: 850 VA. Small office workstation, NAS, switch.
  • BCPRO1050: 1050 VA. Heavier desktop or small server room edge.
  • BCPRO1200: 1200 VA. Small office mini-rack or POS lane.
  • BCPRO1400 / BCPRO1500: 1400-1500 VA. Top of the BC Pro range, small server closet or mini-rack with switch, NAS and workstation.

Common deployment contexts, still found in

  • Small business reception and POS: under-counter BC Pro running a single receipt printer, label scanner and counter PC.
  • Branch office IT closet: 4-6U wall-mount cabinet with the BC Pro on the floor next to it, protecting the switch and a small server.
  • SOHO server closet: home-based small business with one or two servers behind a BC Pro 1200-1500.
  • Small medical office: legacy front-desk EMR workstation, lab printer, local network on a BC Pro that’s been in service since the practice was set up.
  • Education AV cabinets: classroom projector, PC and audio system installed once and left running on a BC Pro for the long haul.

BC Pro battery replacement

BC Pro units use internal sealed lead-acid batteries with the typical 3-5 year service life. For units that have sat on float charge for years without seeing a real discharge cycle, the battery often outlasts the unit itself; for units in warm environments or with frequent power events, it can fail earlier. Signals it’s time to replace:

  • Front-panel “Replace Battery” indicator illuminated
  • Continuous beeping on good mains power
  • Runtime during an outage drops to seconds instead of minutes
  • Self-test (held front-panel button) fails immediately

We supply OEM-compatible 12V SLA replacement packs sized to each BC Pro model, typically a single 12V 7-9Ah cell in the smaller chassis, paired cells in the 1050-1500 VA models. Ship-to-you across Canada from our Canadian warehouse, with a printed swap card and phone support for the replacement procedure. More on Tripp Lite battery replacement →

Common BC Pro issues we resolve

  • “Replace Battery” indicator stays lit after a new battery: run a full discharge calibration cycle to reset the runtime estimator. Holding the front-panel button typically clears it once the new pack has charged.
  • Won’t power on at all: internal fuse or relay weld. Bench-repair candidates if the chassis is otherwise sound and the unit has installed-base value.
  • Continuous beeping on perfect mains: usually a failed open in the battery pack, sometimes a stuck transfer relay.
  • Outlet group quirks: some BC Pro chassis have surge-only outlets and battery-backed outlets in separate groups. Verify before assuming a fault.
  • USB shutdown not communicating: older BC Pro generations preceded modern USB shutdown protocols. Tripp Lite PowerAlert may need a specific driver or the unit may need a serial-to-USB adapter.

Migration paths to current-generation Eaton (drop-in consulting)

The BC Pro line is end-of-production. When a unit reaches the point where the replacement battery cost no longer justifies keeping the chassis (or when the load profile has outgrown what the BC Pro was sized for) the natural Eaton successor depends on the application:

  • Eaton 5S: closest drop-in for BCPRO500-BCPRO1500. Line-interactive with AVR, LCD status, USB shutdown, small tower form factor. Comparable footprint to the BC Pro it replaces.
  • Eaton 5SC: step up for sites that want a small rack-mount option (2U) and longer runtime, or that need a network card slot the BC Pro never offered.
  • Eaton 3S: entry-level drop-in for the smaller BCPRO350-BCPRO600 chassis where the application is light-duty desktop or gateway protection.

For what the BC Pro alarm patterns mean, see why a Tripp Lite UPS beeps: alarms decoded.

For migration from legacy Tripp Lite BC Pro to current-gen Eaton 3S, 5S or 5SC, our service network provides drop-in consulting, site survey, runtime sizing for the actual current load profile (not the load profile when the BC Pro was originally installed years ago), outlet and breaker mapping, decommission and recycling of the legacy unit. Bulk consulting available for multi-site retail and education estates with large installed BC Pro bases.

Service options for the BC Pro

  • Replacement battery supply, OEM-compatible 12V SLA packs, ship-to-you across Canada with printed swap card
